3 Must-try California Wineries

Living in California there are so many great wines that come from amazing wineries across the state. Monterey, Carmel, Santa Maria and Salinas Valleys are all inspiring areas that produce great wines. We’ve put together a list of three local California wineries whose wines are a must-try! Don’t live in the local area? No problem! We are proud to sell the wines below (and more) right here on Poppy & Quail.

Here are our picks for 3 must-try California wines and a little background about the wineries they come from. Enjoy!

Certified B

It’s not often that you hear of companies promoting a “B” rating. However, Bonterra Organic Vineyards does just that. You’ll find transparency located throughout the vineyard. Committed to biodynamic farming, this self-sustaining farm is simplistic and has earned a B corporation certification for sustainability. Bonterra Organic Vineyards produces the purest wine varieties. Try a bottle of The McNab 2012, and you’ll understand why.

Just South of San Francisco

Slow down and savor the moment when you choose a wine from Jekel Vineyards. As a pioneer in Monterey’s winemaking industry, Jekel wines will not disappoint. The passion founder Bill Jekel had led to one of the best rieslings on the market. We suggest this 2015 Jekel Riesling!

A Taste of Bourbon

If you like a little kick in your glass of wine, we suggest the Zinfandel from 1000 Stories. You’ll taste a great zinfandel with a hint of bourbon. With grapes sourced from vineyards located from Mendocino and Sonoma counties, you’ll find unique flavors infused with each bottle and aged with bourbon barrels.

On Poppy & Quail we share only the best wines from local California wineries and take pride in offering you (and your taste buds) the best of California, all bottled up.
